Jacelyn (pronounced jayce-lynn, but known by most as Jay) is a classically trained musician based in Charlotte, North Carolina and has been performing as a brass player for almost 15 years. She got her start in 2008 playing trumpet and later switched to French horn in 2012—a move that was *allegedly* concocted by her mother. Jay's favorite band memories include performing alongside the United States Air Force Band in 2017 and with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra in 2019. In 2021, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an Emphasis in Performance from Wingate University. Recently, Jay has spent some time working behind the scenes at the Carowinds Festival of Music, where she's actively learning about the ins and outs of band/choral adjudications and making connections with experts in the field.
Jay is affiliated with Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, Inc. and initiated with the Mu Lambda chapter at Wingate in 2018. After graduating in May 2021, she reaffiliated with the Mu Nu chapter at Winthrop University the following Fall, where she finished out the remainder of her collegiate membership. She is also affiliated with Maestra Music, Inc., an organization that "provides support, visibility, and community to the women and nonbinary people who make the music in the musical theater industry".
